Welcome to Curfew, a unique speakeasy cocktail bar nestled in Vesterbro. Once a quaint bookstore in 1919, our location now features a secret entrance cleverly disguised as a library. Step through those doors, and you’ll be transported to the roaring 1920s and 1930s, a time of clandestine gatherings and hidden indulgence.
Inspired by the prohibition-era bars of the USA, our establishment captures the essence of those covert “Speakeasies.” As you enter, you’ll be greeted by a classic interior that oozes the charm of a bygone era. The ambiance is relaxed, with dimmed lights and soulful jazzy tunes from Charleston, swing, soul, and blues vinyl sounds, creating an atmosphere that takes you back in time.
In the heart of Curfew, you’ll find two original – COLES hand-cranked cocktail shaker machines, a testament to our commitment to preserving history. We proudly serve a delightful selection of classic cocktails and modern twists on the classics, ensuring there’s something to please every palate.
So, step into our time-traveling haven, where the past meets the present, and indulge in an experience unlike any other. Welcome to Curfew – your speakeasy escape to the glamorous days of the 1920s and 1930s.
A speakeasy for our time, Curfew offers such a warm welcome. Passionate owner and mixologist Humberto Saraiva Marques lives and breathes this cosy little bar. He has turned a run-down pub into a hip hangout, dressed in his vintage finds.
I asked a few of the regulars why they drank at Curfew, and heard a common refrain of “Humberto makes the best drinks,” “his staff are engaged,” “his bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable.”
It’s elegant, relaxed and intimate. The cocktails themselves are superbly made and slip down dangerously easily. The owner Humberto Marques is a cocktail genius.
The innovative, thoughtful drinks and sophisticated-but-relaxed setting—complete with ottomans, mirrors, vintage stools, and wood cabinets filled with old cocktail books and glassware—contribute to an overall chic effect.

This four-month-old Vesterbro bar combines minimalist style with a classic cozy environment. If you order only one drink, let it be the “El Obsequio,” a combination of rum and mimosa syrup, served in a glass wrapped in brown paper.
One of the best cocktail bars in Copenhagen is located in the trendy Vesterbro area. Curfew is the home of the world renowned bartender Humberto Saraiva Marques. Step in and be wowed by classy interior and fabulous cocktails.
Despite the reviewer’s criticism of the secret bar concept, all is forgiven once inside Curfew, now relocated to larger premises, where they serve world-class drinks
